Georgia Senate Approves Election Reform Package, Including Voter ID for Absentee

The Georgia state Senate on Tuesday approved a package that would enable several changes to state election laws in response to the Nov. 3 presidential election. Senate Bill 67 passed the Senate, which is controlled by Republicans, in 35-18 vote on Tuesday and will now be proposed in the Georgia House, reported The Associated Press. The bill requires voters to submit a driver’s license number, state identification card number, or a photocopy of an approved form of identification in order to vote by absentee. Sen. Larry Walker, a Republican who introduced the measure, said the change would affect the absentee-ballot counting process.
